Smashing Pumpkins return with the RAWK (sort of)
Thanks to Pitchfork, I found a stream of the new Smashing Pumpkins single "Tarantula" from their forthcoming album, Zeitgeist. Aside from the terrible lyrics, half-assed vocal hooks, and the weird way they've treated Corgan's vocal, it's not that bad. Which is another way of telling you that Corgan, Iha, and Chamberlin are apparently coming back with a hard rock vengeance.
Thank God.
I liked a good portion of Infinite Sadness, but I miss the Gish/Siamese Dream era of guitar awesomeness. If I could get an entire new record of Corgan's operatic emo-metal sans vocals, I would be a happy man. If nothing else, this release should make fans of Fall-Out Boy wonder why their favorite bands can't play guitar.
